The rising cost of… well, everything.

Unfortunately, like most everything else in life, prices go up.
We never really understand why, considering nothing seems any different than before, however I guess not seeing what it takes to maintain a business or service gets us all a little upset about the rising price of, well, everything.

As I was once told, you can’t get an apartment in Sarasota for $60 a month anymore…

Reiki is a sin, Brodheadsville pastor warns | PoconoRecord.com

Reiki is a sin, Brodheadsville pastor warns | PoconoRecord.com.

I’m at a loss for words (believe it or not…), however, I will venture to say that it’s unfortunate that some people are capable of fostering such ideas.
That seemingly all-pervasive website known as facebook brings many together, all with their own perceptions of any given situation. One friend (someone I’ve actually encountered in the flesh, therefore I know he’s for real) had only this to say in response to the pastor’s attempt to explain why Reiki is “bad”…
“It’s amazing that our work is evil, but if we prefaced it with the name “Jesus” we would be miracle workers!”

Seriously, all I can do is shake my head and wonder when people will wake to their and our own capabilities.

The cover’s been blown… the real conspiracy.

I received this from someone who seemingly knew more about me (a few years ago) than I did about myself.

A SPIRITUAL CONSPIRACY

On the surface of the world right now there is war and violence and things seem dark.
But calmly and quietly, at the same time,
something else is happening underground.
An inner revolution is taking place and certain individuals are being called to a higher light.
It is a silent revolution.
From the inside out. From the ground up.
This is a Global operation.
A Spiritual Conspiracy.
There are sleeper cells in every nation on the planet.
You won’t see us on the T. V.
You won’t read about us in the newspaper.
You won’t hear about us on the radio.
We don’t seek any glory, we don’t wear any uniform.
We come in all shapes and sizes, colors and styles.
Most of us work anonymously.
We are quietly working behind the scenes in every country and culture of the world.
Cities big and small, mountains and valleys, in farms and villages, tribes and remote islands.
You could pass by one of us on the street and not even notice.
We go undercover… We remain behind the scenes.
It is of no concern to us who takes the final credit but simply that the work gets done.
Occasionally we spot each other in the street, we give a quiet nod and continue on our way.
During the day many of us pretend we have normal jobs.
But behind the false storefront at night is where
the real work takes place.
Some call us the Conscious Army.
We are slowly creating a new world with the power of our minds and hearts.
We follow, with passion and joy.
Our orders come from the Central Spiritual Intelligence.
We are dropping soft, secret love bombs when no one is looking
Poems ~ Hugs ~ Music ~ Photography ~ Movies ~ Kind words ~ Smiles ~ Meditation and prayer ~ Dance ~ Social activism ~ Websites ~ Blogs ~ Random acts of kindness…
We each express ourselves in our own unique ways with our own unique gifts and talents.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
That is the motto that fills our hearts.
We know it is the only way real transformation takes place.
We know that quietly and humbly we have the power of all the oceans combined.
Our work is slow and meticulous like the formation of mountains.
It is not even visible at first glance, and yet with it entire tectonic plates shall be moved in the centuries to come.
Love is the new religion of the 21st century.
You don’t have to be a highly educated person or have any exceptional knowledge to understand it.
It comes from the intelligence of the heart, embedded in the timeless evolutionary pulse of all human beings.
Be the change you want to see in the world
Nobody else can do it for you
We are now recruiting.
Perhaps you will join us… or already have.
All are welcome
The door is open

What Reiki’s all about…. pretty much.

Reiki – May the Force Be with You

This article was published in issue 19 (May 2007) of the UK’s ‘Paranormal’ magazine.

One of the fundamental principles underlying many alternative therapies is the idea of a biological life force energy. In traditional Chinese medicine it is called ‘chi’, in Ayurvedic medicine it is known as ‘prana’, and Russian researchers gave it the rather grandiose title ‘bio-plasmic energy’. Others simply refer to it as Light or Love. This life force energy which is said to animate all living things, flows around our bodies through meridians (or pathways) and the chakras (energy centres). When this energy becomes blocked, illness follows.
Reiki – which is a Japanese word meaning ‘universal life force energy’ – is a system of channelling this energy through the hands to the patient; accelerating the body’s ability to heal physical and emotional disorders.

Since Reiki’s spread to the West in the 1970’s, it has become one of the most widely acclaimed therapeutic systems available.  It can be used for chronic ailments, pain, stress, anxiety, combating addictions, improving the quality of life for the terminally ill and simply for an increased sense of wellbeing.  In some areas of the country through Social Services funding it is being used very successfully as a part of drug rehabilitation programmes and for curing people of alcohol addiction.  In others it is being used with remarkable results for the alleviating and curing of symptoms associated with M.E. and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It’s most immediate and powerful results however seem to be in the area of relief from stress related problems. In fact there are no problems that cannot benefit from Reiki and it can be used in tandem with and to enhance any other treatment whether they be conventional or complementary medicines or therapies.

In the USA and Canada, where Reiki first took root in the West it is being used extensively in some hospital and hospice environments by trained medical staff as well as by alternative practitioners. Reiki is being used in a variety of situations such as that of the lady who was recuperating from a hysterectomy. After being discharged from the
hospital she developed a bladder infection which lead her to suffer intense pain. The debilitating effects of the pain prevented her from urinating and she had to use a catheter. Her sister suggested Reiki. After a few minutes of Reiki from her sister the lady began to breathe deeply and drifted off to sleep. The Reiki treatment continued for another forty minutes. The next day the lady’s husband phoned his sister-in-law in disbelief. Not only was his wife comfortable when she woke up but she was able to urinate properly for the first time in two weeks. She remained pain free and the hospital confirmed that the bladder infection was gone. She healed quickly from that point on.

Pregnant women also find that Reiki helps them to cope with their pregnancy better and often reduces the feelings of discomfort, leading to a much greater chance of a successful and pain free birth. This is on top of the benefits received by the unborn child through the input of universal life force energy.

Whatever the reasons for having a treatment the recipients of Reiki treatments almost invariably report an increased sense of wellbeing, a feeling of being enclosed in a fine sheath of energy, or the sense that they are being surrounded by unconditional love. Often Reiki will send the recipient into a meditative state where strong emotions can be released. This will only happen if the problem being treated has an emotional basis and it is necessary for those emotions to surface and be dealt with as part of the healing process.

The unique thing about a Reiki treatment is that the energy has an intelligence of its own and will always go to wherever it is needed the most. This means that whatever the problem, be it a migraine or the after effects of chemotherapy, the Reiki energy knows what the precise healing needs of the individual are.

This of course means that Reiki will not always bring about the expected or the desired result straight away. Often underlying causes have to be dealt with before the symptom disappears. So if you develop a stress related illness as a result of your boss giving you a hard time at work, Reiki isn’t going to simply get rid of the physical problem. What needs to happen in this case is that you need to develop a better way of either relating to your boss or a way of removing yourself from that stressful situation – either physically or emotionally.

This is where Reiki will help. By working on your mental state and the way you are effected by other people, the energy will restore in you a state of balance that would enable you to have a peaceful coexistence with your boss. The stress therefore disappears and Reiki can then work on removing – for good – the illness that you manifested.

The practicalities of receiving a treatment are simple. The Reiki recipient lies fully clothed on a treatment table and simply relaxes whilst the practitioner places his or her hands in a series of defined positions on various parts of the body that correspond to the major organs, endocrine glands and the seven major chakras stretching from the Crown at the top of the head to the Root at the lower abdomen. Each position will be held for about five minutes whilst Reiki energy is channelled directly into the body.

So how does the practitioner know how much energy is needed in any particular place, and what if too much is given?
The answer is that the practitioner doesn’t know how much energy is needed, nor is there a need to know.
The subconscious mind/higher self of the recipient draws the energy in just the quantities that are required.
The practitioner actually does nothing other than make his/her hands available through which the energy can be drawn. For this reason it is never possible to have too much Reiki.

At the end of this series of hand positions the practitioner may feel that it is necessary to work on other parts of the body, depending on where an illness or problem seems to have its source or they may wish to return to one of the previously worked on points.

At each hand position the recipient can feel a number of physical sensations. Most commonly heat of varying intensities is felt or in some cases it can be coldness. It is not uncommon for people to feel energy waves rushing through their body or a ‘tingling’ feeling or see in their minds eye brilliant colours or find themselves on exotic journeys or in beautiful landscapes of a visionary nature. Each person’s treatment is unique as are the experiences of that treatment. One thing is certain however; Reiki does bring a deep sense of peace and wellbeing to whoever comes into contact with it. Many people find that Reiki transforms their lives and go on to learn it for themselves so that they can continue with self treatments. You don’t need to have anything particularly wrong with you to benefit from Reiki.

All you need is a commitment to bringing peace and harmony into your life and Reiki can be there to make it happen.

Some people question whether it is necessary to believe in Reiki before anything will happen. Though Reiki is a form of spiritual healing it is not faith healing and it is entirely non-denominational. Anyone, regardless of race, creed or religious beliefs can experience the effects of Reiki. Although it is better to have a positive mental attitude towards the treatment Reiki will work if you are simply prepared to give it a go and find out for yourself. I have known many instances where Reiki has also had a powerful effect on those who are quite adamant that Reiki is no more than superstitious nonsense.

Belief is simply not a factor in Reiki.

A full Reiki treatment can last up to an hour and a half and will cost you anything between $30 and $60.
Depending on the problem to be treated a full course of treatments might mean several visits.
For more serious problems expect to need ongoing and extensive treatment.
Price is not an indication of quality in Reiki. Because Reiki training is so accessible, and there being very little in the way of professional guidelines for Reiki practitioners, there are a number of unscrupulous people charging high prices for less than satisfactory treatments. Always look for someone who’s level of integrity and truth you are personally satisfied with. Find out how long the practitioner trained for – there are some Reiki Masters currently practicing and teaching Reiki who took less than two weeks to do all of their training!

Some claim to have learnt the whole system in a day.

Ask whether the practitioner can give you their training lineage back to Mikao Usui.

Anyone involved with Reiki should be able to do this, as it is a point of honour embedded within the system.

Searching within, searching without

“Believe nothing,

No matter where you read it,

Or who has said it,

Not even if I have said it,

Unless it agrees with your own reason

And your own common sense.”

– Buddha

There are many paths to an answer (if that is indeed what is being sought), yet with all the information and sources out there, it can be very easy to get deluded with others’ ideas and concepts.

Occasionally when searching for an answer, the natural tendency is to “look” to someone or something else, be it a book, a song, a movie, something, anything with a message.

But with all the input we can become distracted to the point where, if we were to sit a few moments and listen to what our inner guide or guides may tell us, we would likely find the answer “within”.

All the communications with all the angels/guardians/spirit guides come from within.

After all, it is YOU doing the communication, and that has to come from WITHIN you.

Is THIS how children behave?

This post is in reference to a news story that I’ve been seeing on the BBC over the last few hours.
The title of the piece is :

Israel’s War On Jerusalem Children By Jonathan Cook
you can find it here….http://www.countercurrents.org/cook131210.htm

A snippet to get things started… “Israeli police have been criticised over their treatment of hundreds of Palestinian children, some as young as seven, arrested and interrogated on suspicion of stone-throwing in East Jerusalem.”

The gist of the story is that the kids in the region (there doesn’t seem to be an age limit here, young ones, pre- and early teenagers) have been getting detained and held, with varying degrees of “interrogation”, by the local authorities.
The outcry seems to be that considering they are children, they are somehow exempt from the rules and therefor should be allowed to carry on the way their parents and older siblings may do, as in when the police or military or anyone they aren’t familiar with shows up in the neighbourhood, they are fair game to be assaulted with rocks.
Is there actually anyplace that this is acceptable? Uh, I don’t think so….

One has to think that there is a definite lack of common sense amongst the so-called adults and parents of the children involved here. The actual newscast of this story holds a lot more water than the words. The fact is, nobody, child, adult, whatever age, has the right to openly and commonly assault another person, be it in their vehicle or on foot, with rocks or any other manner of projectile. The truth is that the children in this area of the world are taught that this is common and accepted behaviour. Just because someone is different than you, just because they go to a different church or drive a car with a different licence plate, is apparently reason enough to endanger and often threaten the lives of others.

As much as it “may” be wrong to arrest/detain a child, the truth is, if you don’t want to pay the price, don’t do the crime.
It’s literally that simple. And one’s surroundings, upbringing, social situation…. none of those things matter.

The truth is, what’s wrong is wrong. And threatening ANY other person’s life is wrong, no matter where you’re from or what age you are.  Maybe the grown-ups of the region need a lesson or two in how to raise their children.  As the father of Amran Mansour says in the news story, “It’s a game to them, they don’t know any better…”.

Perhaps Mr. Mansour you should teach your child a little better, or for that fact, perhaps the majority of the parents that seem to accept this behaviour should be given a few lessons in parental behaviour.

Political shenanigans and a city full of red faces

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on December 8, 2010 by Heyoka Healing Arts

I very rarely say anything about politics, and I guess in reality this isn’t about politics either. More about the idea of the cult of personality and how it can warp and affect the general public, or more specifically, the LCD (lowest common denominator…)

It would seem it’s time for Toronto to dance the “Embarrassment Boogie” yet again.
It’s not enough that we had to deal with Mel’s antics years ago, now this. You know the only reason anyone’s going to listen to the guy in the silly clothing from the hockey broadcast is because he’s all-pervasive. And because of that he’s at the point, for some people, definitely NOT me, of being an (ugh) icon and a “representative” of the real people.

Here’s a newsflash…
Not ALL Canadians
(a) drink beer
(b) watch hockey
(c) have a fondness for Rush, Gordon Lightfoot, Mr. Dressup or Timmy’s, or
(d) love and venerate the CBC.
I don’t care for snow and cold, or the way Mr. Obnoxiously-Loud-Mouth & Suit guy dresses for that fact, so why,
I ask anyone, would I want THAT to represent me, the city I live in or for that fact the whole freakin’ country I’m from?
Can you say embarrassment?
If not, just say Don… or perhaps Rob.
Only time will tell.
