Reiki is a sin, Brodheadsville pastor warns | PoconoRecord.com.

I’m at a loss for words (believe it or not…), however, I will venture to say that it’s unfortunate that some people are capable of fostering such ideas.
That seemingly all-pervasive website known as facebook brings many together, all with their own perceptions of any given situation. One friend (someone I’ve actually encountered in the flesh, therefore I know he’s for real) had only this to say in response to the pastor’s attempt to explain why Reiki is “bad”…
“It’s amazing that our work is evil, but if we prefaced it with the name “Jesus” we would be miracle workers!”

Seriously, all I can do is shake my head and wonder when people will wake to their and our own capabilities.

Energy, gadgets, and investment in yourself…

As much as I can and do appreciate upsetting the apple-cart from time to time, the fact is that change isn’t always what we’re looking for.
Case in point…
A friend in the Reiki/metaphysical world that I wander around in sent me a note from another therapist who went on to say that the Reiki energy just wasn’t doing it for her anymore, the energy is old and apparently not relevant because of the shift in the human race that seems to be taking place.
Which leads me to this …if something works for you and you’re happy in it, fine. If it’s worn out it’s welcome for YOU, that doesn’t mean that it no longer works for everyone else who is happy with it.
Why, oh why must people foist their opinions on others who are apparently doing alright?
If someone isn’t feeling the buzz from raising and passing the Universal Life Force, well, that’s okay. Maybe their time is up doing that sort of work, or perhaps working within that framework has run its course.
Call it what you wish, (here’s that old chestnut yet again), the energy is what it is, undefinable but indeed, definitely there for those that wish to access it.
God, Krishna, Buddha, Ganesh, whatever…. IT’S ALL THE SAME.

(Funny, my mom asked me about meeting her parish priest to talk about doing a sermon on just this.
Now there’s an image, the Heyoka at the pulpit.
That’s something I don’t think anyone would ever expect, least of all me.)

The energy, as we’re all aware, is compassion, love, awareness, and a willingness and eagerness to share what many energy workers/healers/therapists have learned to (some degree) harness.

I’m learning, or have learned, that each new modality is a new way to pull in a buck. I’m really sorry to say that, but it is in fact the truth. It’s at the point where I’m having people with all manner of gadgets and healing wands and this, that and the next thing wanting me to endorse what they’re hawking, and frankly, I’d rather not.
The fact is, WE can and do heal ourselves and we DON’T need the little $300 and $400 gadgets that “speed up the healing process”.
We ARE the healing gadgets.
I’d rather take the time and teach the client how to
ENACT and ENABLE the energy so that they don’t NEED the little gadget.

All we need is the awareness and intention.

Allowance, for you, for me, for everyone.

The art of letting the people and creatures and world around us be who and what they are.
The ability to realize that as much as you may need something to be one way, it may not be that way for a reason, possibly a good reason for someone else.
The ability to realize you can’t always have things the way you need them, or to put it bluntly, not getting things your way…. (go ahead, stomp your foot, it feels better to let it out…)

Let nature and time and the world take its course and by allowing the world to be what it is, we can hopefully have a positive effect on the energies and people we come into contact with.

Live for the moment that you’re in.
Take a cue from the small creatures around us. What happened yesterday, happened yesterday. That moment in time is gone, and as much as we may “regret” or “disagree with” or perhaps “enjoy” a certain feeling or sensation at that moment…. in reality, it’s gone. So live for the moment you’re in right now.

And as for tomorrow, that’s then. We can only do so much toward shaping what that will bring, so just deal with it as it flows toward you. I remember a dear friend putting it so eloquently for me, (very zen for the person that I’m thinking of actually…. ahem), the phrase was be like water.
And that about sums it up.

Be formless, yet take the form of the moment you are in.

We can only do so much about our surroundings, so instead of fighting and possibly making a situation worse, form to it, become part of it and influence it from the inside….
Now, I’m not saying one shouldn’t stand up for ones’ rights, I’m just saying when a situation is getting tense, don’t make it worse. Work with that negative energy and “reform” it to a positive (yes, it may take some work but it will happen). Energy is ever-moving, ever-changing, it never stays constant, and neither does the human mind. It too is ever-moving, ever-changing.

Or so one would hope.

And most of all, allow yourself to be you. Who you are.
Make your decisions based on what you feel, not what others tell you.
Don’t look out for answers, look within.
That is where your connection is, not within a computer monitor, a book, or a collection of books.
The answers are within you.
Take in as much information as you can, filter out what doesn’t work for you and from the remainder, create a world and a life for yourself that benefits you and those you interact with and have an effect on.

Take care of yourselves, and each other.
